4th of July Fun Run

For the 4th of July Mandy and I decided to do a 4 mile fun run in Monument CO. It was on the New Santa Fe Trail and it was advertised as being an easy fun run. Mandy has been a runner in the past and played soccer in high school so she doesn’t mind running. I usually hate running, but have decided that it is time to give it a try, especially if I want to do a triathlon in the future.

So we got up early, put Caleb in his jogging stroller and proceeded to run/walk 4 miles. It turned out not to be that bad. I didn’t throw up and I did finish so that was about all I could hope for. We finished in under one hour which was my goal. I am pretty sure that Mandy could have finished faster but she was either pushing Caleb or waiting on me a lot of the time.

Here are some pictures.

mandy said that my number should stand for 4 miles in 44 minutes but I wasn't quite up for that.

Mandy and I post race. She said that I had to include a picture of my face or my friends wouldn't believe me.

  • Congratulations Jer. That’s really exciting! Dad and I hope to push Caleb next year (walking) while you and Mandy run.

  • good for you! Running (other than of the “away from a bear” variety) just isn’t really my cup of tea – give me a bike any day!

  • Fun you guys! love you! Kel

  • Those were nice things you said about me but untrue! I am out of shape as well and the only thing I would have shaved off the run was fun, not minutes. I love doing all this new stuff with you! I love you. Happy Birthday today!!!

  • Awesome! I’m proud of you guys! Let me know when you start that triathlon training; maybe I can pass along some good training advice from some of my buddies at the running store.
